Camp Heal-A-Heart is a unique program across Canada, incorporating both recreational and therapeutic components. Camp focuses on identifying feelings, self-esteem enhancement, and learning coping skills. Participants discover that they are not alone in experiencing change and loss. Camp enables them to feel connected and understood in their grief journey, but most of all Camp Heal-A-Heart’s a time to have fun and just be a kid.

The Grande Prairie and District Grief Support Association is a non-profit organization that has been in operation since 1997. We’re here to provide education and support. We believe in “wellness through healthy grieving”. Our programs offer support to children and youth for ages 5 to 18, who have been affected by loss. Our programming is unique to Canada in that it is therapeutic as well as recreational.

The Circle of Life program is free for all Grande Prairie and area schools; other organizations may book privately. It supports children and youth who have experienced loss—such as death, divorce, separation, or living in care—by encouraging them to open up. Through open discussions and fun activities, participants build self-esteem, identify feelings, and improve coping skills. They also learn they are not alone in facing change and loss.
